CMEIAS-JFrad ver. 1.0
The MSU Center for Microbial Ecology is pleased to announce the release of our CMEIAS JFrad Ver. 1.0 Software. This program runs in java and is designed to analyze the fractal dimension of microbial biofilms and other object coastlines. Eleven methods of fractal analysis are provided, enabling the user to data mine the results to find the fractals that best discriminate biofilm architecture.

CMEIAS AV Tutorial Demos

CMEIAS Biovolume Algorithms
See our comprehensive Folland et al., 2014 study that evaluated the accuracy of 17 different algorithms to compute microbial biovolumes by comparison to ground truth data for all microbial morphotypes classified by CMEIAS. The shape-adaptable algorithms were most accurate and are recommended for microbial ecology research. These new algorithms enable measurements of individual microbial cell biovolumes with 96+% accuracy from properly segmented, 2-dimensional images acquired using phase-contrast light microscoopy.
CMEIAS-Quadrat Maker ver. 1.0
The MSU Center for Microbial Ecology is pleased to announce the release of our CMEIAS Quadrat Maker software. This stand-alone program is an improved computing technology designed to assist in the image processing tasks required to perform plot-based spatial distribution analysis of digital images in landscape ecology (Dazzo and Gross 2013). Its main functions are to alleviate the time-consuming tasks of optimizing the grid-lattice dimensions that best define the spatial pattern of organisms within a digital landscape image, and produce individual, size-optimized quadrat images saved with column-row location for plot-based landscape ecology spatial pattern analysis. An audio-visual demo has been added to the CMEIAS Quadrat Maker program and is now available for download.

CMEIAS Color Segmentation Ver. 1.0
The MSU Center for Microbial Ecology is pleased to announce the release of our CMEIAS Color Segmentation Version 1.0 Software. This stand-alone program is an improved computing technology designed to alleviate the laborious task of segmenting foreground pixels from background in complex color and grayscale images of environmental samples. These image editing steps are required before object analysis and classification.

CMEIAS-Image Tool ver. 1.28
We now offer an updated installation of CMEIAS ver. 1.28 together with a CMEIAS upgrade of UTHSCSA Image Tool ver. 1.28. The new CMEIAS-IT1.28Setup.exe file provides a simplified installation for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows operating systems. Click here to download CMEIAS-IT ver. 1.28.
